HighHelp – A Year 11 SRC initiativeSix months ago, a group of Year 11 students launched a web platform, HighHelp, to aid the 27' Cohort’s transition into their senior years. The platform aims to address genuine cohort needs by integrating school systems like Canvas and Clipboard with assessment schedules. The project aims to remove academic barriers by providing peer-sourced resources and feedback channels that build cohort unity and collaboration. By leveraging machine learning, HighHelp is capable of generating topic-specific mock exams with past HSC questions, demonstrating how technology can meaningfully and appropriately assist students. Backed by unwavering guidance from teachers and feedback from classmates, HighHelp’s achievement is already evident with its 210 onboarded students. The success of collective resourcing and the variety of features further reflects the prominence of innovation and collaboration within Sydney Boys culture. Presently, as the Class of 2027 transitions into the critical Year 12 HSC period, HighHelp is exceptionally well-positioned to serve as a reliable, scalable, and continuously improving support system, empowering students to achieve their highest academic potential as a cohort. We wish to highlight the exceptional contributions of: Lucas Chen (11T), Aryan Ghosh (11S), Franklin Huang (11M), Jasper Kim (11T), Joshua Kuo (11R), Nicklas Li (11F), Ricky Luo (11R), Jun Shim (11F). NSW Public Schools Survey (NPSS)The 2026 NPSS results show that Sydney Boys High continues to perform strongly across most measures, with notable improvements in teaching quality, high expectations and student wellbeing. The largest gains were in students' perceptions of high expectations, safety and support, and explicit teaching. Areas for further attention are student motivation (still 20% above the state mean), student voice (still 17% above the state mean) and perceptions of support from adults at school (still 10% above the state mean), all of which declined compared to 2025.
To address these areas, the school will work with students and the wellbeing team to better
understand the factors contributing to lower levels of motivation, perceptions of adult support
and student voice. Student feedback will be used to identify practical actions that can
strengthen engagement, increase opportunities for student voice and ensure that every student has
a meaningful connection with a trusted adult at school. The school will continue to monitor these
measures closely. |
